Selection Notes
Minimum Bore: The component bore must meet or exceed the listed minimum bore diameter and provide sufficient tool clearance.
Groove Width: The B value in the model code identifies the nominal groove width.
Groove Depth: Do not exceed the listed T value without confirming a custom geometry.
Tool Reach: Use the shortest suitable working length to improve rigidity and reduce vibration.

FAQ & Downloads
Product FAQs
What is the MFR Series micro face grooving bar used for?
The MFR Series is designed for precision face grooving on internal end faces and recessed features inside small bores. It is suitable for CNC lathes, turning centers and Swiss-type machines where compact tool access and repeatable groove dimensions are required.
What standard shank diameters and groove widths are available?
Standard shank diameters are Ø4, Ø5, Ø6 and Ø8 mm. Available groove widths range from 0.5 to 3.0 mm, depending on the shank diameter, working length and required groove depth.
What minimum bore diameters can the MFR Series machine?
The minimum bore diameter depends on the shank size. Standard Ø4 mm tools require a minimum Ø5 mm bore, Ø5 mm tools require Ø6 mm, Ø6 mm tools require Ø8 mm, and Ø8 mm tools require Ø10 mm.
What do B, L1 and T mean in the model code?
B identifies the nominal groove width, L1 identifies the working length, and T indicates the standard groove depth. For example, MFR 6 B2.0 L22 has a Ø6 mm shank, 2.0 mm groove width, 22 mm working length and 3.0 mm groove depth.
What is the maximum standard groove depth?
Standard groove depths range from 1.0 to 6.0 mm. MFR 6 B3.0 L22 and MFR 6 B3.0 L30 provide the maximum listed groove depth of 6.0 mm. A custom tool should be evaluated if a deeper groove is required.
Which workpiece materials can be machined?
The solid carbide tool can be configured for steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron and selected non-ferrous materials. Cutting geometry, coating and machining parameters should be selected according to the workpiece material and hardness.
Selection & Application FAQs
How do I select the correct MFR model?
Confirm the minimum bore diameter first, then select the groove width B, required groove depth T, working length L1 and compatible shank diameter D. Tool orientation, spindle direction and holder clearance should also be checked before ordering.
How can machining stability be improved?
Use the shortest working length that can reach the groove, minimize tool overhang, check tool-center height and runout, and use a rigid tool holder. Cutting speed, feed and depth should be adjusted according to the material and machine rigidity.
Is coolant recommended for small-bore face grooving?
Coolant or a suitable cutting fluid is recommended to control cutting heat and assist chip evacuation. Direct the coolant toward the cutting zone whenever the bore and machine setup allow it.
Ordering & OEM FAQs
Can you manufacture custom MFR micro face grooving bars?
Yes. Custom groove width, groove depth, working length, shank diameter, cutting profile, coating and laser marking can be produced according to component drawings, tool drawings or approved samples.
What information is required for a quotation?
Please provide the standard model number or component drawing, minimum bore diameter, groove width and depth, groove position, workpiece material and hardness, machine type, required quantity, and any coating, marking or packaging requirements.
What is the minimum order quantity?
The standard minimum order quantity is 10 pieces. Mixed-model trial orders and customized quantities can be reviewed according to the selected specifications and production requirements.
What is the lead time for standard and customized tools?
In-stock standard models can normally be dispatched within 1–3 working days after order confirmation. Customized tools require lead-time confirmation according to geometry, quantity, coating, sample approval and packaging requirements.
