MIR 30° Micro Internal Trapezoidal Threading Bar
MIR Series 30° solid carbide micro internal threading bars are designed for precision turning of metric trapezoidal threads in small and restricted bores. The right-hand cutting configuration and pitch-specific TR geometry support internal power-screw and motion-transmission thread applications.
Standard models cover TR pitches from 1.5 to 5.0 mm, cutting diameters from Ø5.6 to Ø11.9 mm and clearance lengths from 20 to 50 mm. The integral fine-grain carbide body provides the rigidity required for controlled 30° flank geometry, repeatable thread depth and stable CNC production.

Application & Tool Selection

Confirm the Thread StandardThis page covers MIR models with A30 trapezoidal-thread geometry. Confirm the required Tr designation, nominal diameter, pitch, tolerance and thread direction.
Match the TR PitchSelect the pitch-specific model shown in the size table. A TR 1.5 tool must not be substituted for a TR 2.0, TR 3.0, TR 4.0 or TR 5.0 profile.
Check Bore and Tool ClearanceVerify that the cutting head, neck, shank and programmed retraction path clear the bore and any internal shoulder throughout the cycle.
Use the Shortest Practical ReachChoose the shortest L1 that reaches the full thread length to improve rigidity and reduce vibration during multi-pass threading.

- Controlled 30° trapezoidal flank geometry
- Pitch-specific standard model selection
- Suitable for CNC lathes and turning centers

Standard & Custom Micro Internal Tools

When a standard MIR A30 model does not match the nominal thread diameter, pitch, bore clearance, thread depth or working reach, custom solid carbide internal threading tools can be evaluated according to the component drawing.

FAQ & Downloads
Product FAQs
What is the MIR 30° micro internal threading bar used for?
The MIR A30 Series is designed for precision turning of compatible metric trapezoidal internal threads. Typical applications include lead-screw nuts, actuators, positioning components, adjustment mechanisms and other parts that use Tr threads to transmit motion or load.
What does A30 mean in the MIR model number?
A30 identifies the 30° included-angle cutting profile used for compatible metric trapezoidal threads. It is not interchangeable with 29° ACME, 55° Whitworth-type or 60° metric and unified thread geometry.
What TR pitches are available as standard?
The standard range includes TR pitches of 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 mm. Pitch availability is tied to the specific model, cutting diameter, clearance length and shank size shown in the specification table.
What standard dimensions are available?
Standard models cover cutting diameters from Ø5.6 to Ø11.9 mm, L1 clearance lengths from 20 to 50 mm, shank diameters of Ø6, Ø8, Ø10 and Ø12 mm, and overall lengths of 50, 60, 75 and 100 mm.
Does the cutting diameter d1 equal the minimum bore diameter?
No. The d1 value is the tool cutting diameter shown in the drawing. Minimum bore suitability depends on the complete cutting-head envelope, thread major and minor diameters, pitch, thread depth, tolerance and retraction clearance. Provide the component drawing for confirmation.
Is the MIR A30 Series right-hand or left-hand?
MIR is the standard right-hand cutting configuration. For left-hand or special tool-path requirements, confirm the spindle direction, holder position and programmed cutting direction so that a suitable standard or custom geometry can be selected.
Selection & Application FAQs
How do I select the correct MIR A30 model?
Confirm the complete Tr thread designation, nominal diameter, pitch, tolerance class, thread direction, thread length and bore geometry. Then select the matching pitch-specific model and verify d1, L1, shank diameter and retraction clearance against the component drawing.
Can the same tool cut different TR pitches?
Do not assume that one standard model can cut multiple pitches. The listed MIR A30 tools are pitch-specific. Select the model whose TR pitch matches the drawing, or request a custom tool when the required profile is outside the standard range.
How should I select the clearance length L1?
Select an L1 length that reaches the entire threaded section without the larger tool body contacting the bore or shoulder. Use the shortest practical reach because the wider trapezoidal profile creates higher cutting load and is more sensitive to deflection.
How can I improve stability when cutting trapezoidal internal threads?
Clamp the shank securely, minimize overhang, set the cutting edge accurately on center and control runout. Use a multi-pass threading cycle with a suitable infeed strategy instead of attempting to generate the full thread depth in one pass.
How should coolant and chips be managed?
Direct coolant toward the cutting zone and make sure chips can leave the bore between passes. Chip packing is especially critical in blind holes because the broad thread profile removes more material and trapped chips can damage both the cutting edge and finished flanks.
What should be checked before programming the threading cycle?
Confirm pitch, thread hand, spindle rotation, tool orientation, final thread depth, thread length, relief position and retraction path. Simulate the full cycle and verify that the programmed pitch matches the selected TR tool model.
Ordering & OEM FAQs
Can you manufacture custom MIR 30° trapezoidal threading bars?
Yes. Thread pitch, cutting-head geometry, bore clearance, working length, shank diameter, carbide grade, coating and other dimensions can be customized according to a component drawing or reference sample.
What information is required for a quotation?
Please provide the standard model or component drawing, complete Tr designation, nominal diameter, pitch, tolerance class, bore diameter, thread length, workpiece material, quantity and any coating, marking or packaging requirements.
Can I order mixed models for testing?
Yes. Small trial orders and mixed standard models can be reviewed according to stock and production availability. The standard minimum order quantity is 10 pieces.
Do you support OEM marking and private-label packaging?
Yes. Custom laser marking, model identification, labels, individual protective tubes and private-label packaging are available for distributors and tooling resellers.
What is the lead time for standard and customized tools?
In-stock standard models can usually be dispatched within 1–3 working days after order confirmation. Customized tools require separate lead-time confirmation according to geometry, coating, quantity and packaging requirements.
