Product FAQs
Product-specific information about 3D and 5D drilling, general-purpose material applications, 2-flute geometry, coolant selection and available configurations for this solid carbide twist drill.
Which materials is this general-purpose drill designed for?
This drill is primarily designed for carbon steel, alloy steel, selected stainless steel and cast iron. Suitability for non-ferrous materials should be confirmed separately because aluminum and other soft materials may require sharper geometry and polished flutes.
What is the difference between the 3D and 5D configurations?
The 3D version provides higher rigidity for shallow and general-purpose holes. The 5D version offers additional drilling reach for medium-depth holes but requires more consistent chip evacuation, coolant delivery and machine stability.
Why does this drill use a 2-flute geometry?
The 2-flute geometry provides a practical balance between cutting-edge strength, drill rigidity and chip space. Its spiral flutes support controlled chip formation and evacuation during blind-hole and through-hole CNC drilling.
Is the same coating suitable for every workpiece material?
No. AlTiN, TiAlN, AlCrN and uncoated options can be reviewed according to the workpiece material, hardness, cutting temperature and coolant condition. The coating should be confirmed for the main material being drilled rather than selected as a universal option.
Is this drill suitable for blind holes and through holes?
Yes. The 3D and 5D configurations can be used for blind-hole and through-hole drilling. The usable drilling depth, point allowance, flute length and chip-evacuation space should be confirmed before ordering.
What coolant method is recommended?
External coolant is suitable for many 3D drilling applications. Through coolant is recommended for 5D holes, higher cutting loads or conditions requiring improved chip evacuation and temperature control. Final selection depends on the workpiece material and machine setup.
What information is required for a quotation?
Please provide the required diameter, 3D or 5D drilling depth, workpiece material, material hardness, coating preference, coolant method, tolerance and estimated quantity. A drawing is recommended for non-standard requirements.
Ordering & OEM FAQs
General information for trial orders, mixed-size purchasing, private labeling and production scheduling.
Do you accept small trial orders?
Yes. Small sample or trial orders are welcomed for evaluating hole quality, chip evacuation, cutting stability and tool life before committing to volume purchasing.
Can 3D and 5D sizes be ordered together?
Yes. Different diameters and 3D or 5D configurations can be combined in one order when the carbide grade, geometry and coating requirements are compatible. Mixed configurations are suitable for distributors and batch inventory planning.
Can the drill dimensions and geometry be customized?
Yes. The cutting diameter, flute length, overall length, shank diameter, point geometry, flute profile, coating, coolant configuration and dimensional tolerance can be reviewed according to the application or customer drawing.
Is OEM laser marking available?
Yes. Custom shank laser marking such as logo, model number, specifications or batch identification can be reviewed together with OEM labels, individual tool protection and branded packaging requirements.
What is the typical production lead time?
Standard stock items normally have a shorter lead time, while custom dimensions, special coatings, coolant configurations and OEM orders require additional production time. The exact schedule is confirmed according to specification, quantity, coating and current production capacity.
