WCMX/WCMT U-Drill Insert Specifications
This page lists WCMX050308 and WCMT06T308 carbide inserts for compatible indexable U-drills. Select the complete insert designation together with the drill-body model, pocket position, carbide grade and chipbreaker. An insert model alone does not identify the finished hole diameter or guarantee fit in another drill body.

| Listed models | WCMX050308 and WCMT06T308. |
| Insert form | W-style trigon indexable insert; confirm pocket geometry and locating features for each model. |
| Tool material | Carbide. Substrate grade, edge preparation, chipbreaker and coating depend on the ordered configuration. |
| Operation | Indexable drilling in a compatible U-drill body. Other operations require an approved holder and application data. |
| Workpiece groups | Grade-dependent choices for steel (ISO P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K) and selected non-ferrous materials (N). |
| Fit checks | Drill-body code, pocket designation, center/peripheral position, seating, clamp screw and approved insert list. |
| Supply reference | Listed MOQ: 10 pieces; listed pack: 10 pieces per box. Confirm by complete item code. |
Model & Drawing Confirmation
| Listed model | Family | Confirm against the approved drawing |
|---|---|---|
| WCMX050308 | WCMX05 | Actual size, thickness, corner radius, hole and seating geometry, grade and chipbreaker. |
| WCMT06T308 | WCMT06 | Actual size, thickness, corner radius, hole and seating geometry, grade and chipbreaker. |
A dimensioned drawing for either model is not provided on this page. WCMT03/04/05/08 are family references, not complete order codes for the two listed models. Request the approved product drawing before checking a replacement against the drill-body pocket.
How to Select the Insert
1. Identify the drill body: record its manufacturer, complete designation, nominal hole diameter and drilling depth.
2. Match the pocket: verify WCMX or WCMT, insert size, center/peripheral position and clamping components using the drill maker's approved list.
3. Choose the cutting configuration: specify the workpiece grade and hardness, carbide grade, chipbreaker, coating and coolant conditions.
4. Validate the setup: trial the complete assembly and check chip evacuation, hole size, edge wear and finish.
Cutting Data & Technical Notes
Cutting-speed and feed values require a specific grade, drill diameter, pocket combination and workpiece hardness. Use the approved drill-body and insert-grade data for starting settings; verify the result on the actual machine. Hardened-steel suitability, coating chemistry and substrate hardness require product-specific confirmation.
For a model-specific drawing or quotation, send the drill body and full insert codes with your material, hole diameter/depth, current insert photos and required quantity.
◆Carbide Insert Customization & OEM
Specify the insert around the machining operation, workpiece and holder. We can review standard replacements, application-specific geometry and private-label requirements using your insert designation, drawing or sample. Available grades, coatings, dimensions and order quantities are confirmed for each requested series.
Geometry & Chip Control
Review chipbreaker, rake, cutting-edge preparation, nose radius and corner design for the operation and workpiece. Confirm holder compatibility before approving a modified geometry.
Substrate & Coating
Select an available carbide grade and coating for the workpiece material, cutting conditions and desired balance of wear resistance and edge toughness.
Dimensions & OEM
Review insert size, thickness, locating and clamping features, tolerances, laser marking and private-label packaging against the approved specification.

Product FAQs
What is the difference between WCMX050308 and WCMT06T308?
They are different insert designations and sizes. Match each full code to the U-drill body's specified pocket; the shared W-style trigon outline does not make the two inserts interchangeable. Request the individual drawings to compare dimensions and seating features.
Can I use either insert in any WCMX or WCMT U-drill?
No. Confirm the drill manufacturer and complete body code, pocket size, center/peripheral position, seat and screw against the body's approved insert list. A matching family name alone is insufficient.
Does the insert code tell me the finished drilling diameter?
No. The U-drill body establishes the nominal hole diameter. The insert designation identifies the replaceable cutting component; verify actual hole size in a trial cut.
Are the center and peripheral inserts always the same?
That depends on the drill design. Some bodies specify different grades, chipbreakers or inserts for the center and outer pockets. Use the recommended combination for the exact drill body and workpiece.
Which materials and coatings are available?
The range can be reviewed for steel, stainless steel, cast iron and selected non-ferrous alloys using material-specific carbide grades. PVD and CVD are listed as options, but a coating and grade must be confirmed for each full code. Hardened-steel use needs separate validation.
What cutting speed and feed should I start with?
Use grade-specific data for the complete drill body, nominal diameter, hole depth, workpiece and coolant system. Confirm the starting values for the selected insert grade and setup, then check chip evacuation, hole size and insert wear in a controlled trial.
Ordering & OEM FAQs
What should I send for a replacement-insert quotation?
Send the complete drill-body and current insert codes, photos of the box label, insert and pocket, center/outer position, workpiece grade, hole diameter/depth and required quantity.
Can WCMX and WCMT models be included in one inquiry?
Yes. List each full insert code, grade, chipbreaker and quantity separately. Mixed-model supply and availability are confirmed by item.
What are the MOQ and standard box quantity?
The listed minimum is 10 pieces and the listed pack is 10 pieces per box. Confirm the actual terms for the selected insert, grade and packaging in the quotation.
Can I request samples or private-label packaging?
Include the exact item code, trial conditions, quantity and artwork requirements. Sample availability, marking and packaging are reviewed for the requested configuration.
