30° Trapezoidal TR Thread Mill Overview
These solid carbide thread mills are designed for CNC machining of 30° internal metric trapezoidal threads. Nine standard cutter groups cover pitches from P1.0 to P6.0 and the listed thread sizes from TR7 to TR42. Each pitch-specific tool can machine multiple nominal diameters shown in its model group by adjusting the helical interpolation path, reducing the number of dedicated tools required for related TR sizes. The four-flute geometry, relieved neck and solid carbide construction support stable internal thread milling in carbon steel, alloy steel, pre-hardened steel, cast iron and stainless steel, with application review required for harder or special materials.
Key Configuration
Pitch-Specific 30° Profile
Each cutter is ground for one trapezoidal pitch. The programmed orbit determines the listed nominal thread diameter, but the tool cannot be used for a different pitch.
Relieved-Neck Construction
Standard neck diameters range from Ø3.7 to Ø9.0 mm and clearance lengths from 20 to 50 mm for internal thread access and shoulder clearance.
Four-Flute Solid Carbide
All listed models use four flutes. Cutter diameters from Ø5.5 to Ø16 mm and matching shanks from Ø6 to Ø16 mm support rigidity across the range.
Key Product Advantages
Multiple Diameters per Pitch
One pitch-specific model can machine several listed TR diameters through CNC interpolation.
Controlled 30° Profile
Precision-ground geometry supports the flank form required for metric trapezoidal threads.
Adjustable Thread Fit
Finished thread size can be fine-tuned through controlled radial compensation after gauging.
Blind-Hole Capability
Helical interpolation avoids the continuous chip associated with tapping and supports suitable blind holes.

Product & Application FAQs
Selection and application guidance for precision CNC trapezoidal thread milling.
What type of thread is this cutter designed to machine?
It is designed for internal metric trapezoidal TR threads with a 30° included profile. It is not a 60° ISO metric thread mill, an ACME 29° thread mill or a 55° pipe-thread cutter. Confirm the complete TR designation and component drawing before selecting a model.
Can one tool machine several TR thread diameters?
Yes, when the nominal diameters are listed within the same pitch-specific model group. The CNC interpolation diameter is changed to produce the approved thread diameter. The cutter pitch is fixed, so a P2.0 tool cannot produce P3.0 or another pitch. Do not assume unlisted TR sizes are standard.
How do I select the correct product code?
Start with the exact TR nominal diameter and pitch, then select the catalog row that explicitly lists that combination. Confirm cutter diameter d1, relieved-neck diameter d2, clearance length L1, shank diameter D, overall length L, prepared-bore diameter, thread depth and holder clearance before ordering.
Why are TR16×3, TR18×3 and TR20×3 not shown?
These sizes are not listed in the supplied P3.0 catalog matrix. They should therefore be treated as unconfirmed rather than automatically covered by a neighboring model. Send the thread drawing and machining details so a standard-tool check or custom-tool review can be completed.
Can the cutter be used for blind internal threads?
Yes, provided a suitable bore has already been prepared and adequate bottom clearance is available. Confirm thread depth against L1, allow room for entry and retraction, maintain effective chip evacuation and ensure the shoulder and shank cannot contact the component.
Which workpiece materials are suitable?
The application chart rates carbon steel, alloy steel, pre-hardened steel, cast iron and stainless steel as primary materials. Approximately 48 HRC hardened steel and titanium alloys are shown as conditional applications. Confirm carbide grade, coating, cutting data, coolant and expected tool life for harder or special materials.
How should the toolpath and finished thread be controlled?
Use CNC helical interpolation with the feed, radial engagement and compensation appropriate for the selected pitch and cutter diameter. Use a precision low-runout holder, keep overhang as short as practical and begin with conservative cutting data. Inspect the first completed thread with the drawing-specified gauge or approved mating component before batch production.
Ordering & Customization FAQs
Information for distributors, tooling brands and customers sourcing standard or custom trapezoidal thread mills.
What standard sizes are available?
The catalog contains nine cutter groups covering P1.0–P6.0 and specifically listed TR sizes from TR7 to TR42. Cutter diameters are Ø5.5–Ø16 mm, relieved-neck diameters Ø3.7–Ø9.0 mm, L1 lengths 20–50 mm, shanks Ø6–Ø16 mm and overall lengths 50 / 60 / 75 / 100 mm. All listed models use four flutes.
Can you manufacture a custom TR thread mill?
Yes. Custom TR size and pitch, cutter diameter d1, relieved-neck diameter d2, reach L1, shank D, overall length L, flute geometry, carbide grade, edge preparation and coating can be reviewed. Please provide the thread drawing, prepared bore, thread depth, bottom clearance, material, machine and holder restrictions, inspection requirement and quantity.
Are OEM marking and private-label packaging available?
Yes. Laser marking can include the customer logo, product code, TR size, pitch, coating code and batch number. Application-specific coatings, custom labels, protective tubes and private-label packaging can also be reviewed for distributor and OEM programs.
What are the MOQ and lead time?
The minimum order is 10 pieces per size. In-stock standard tools can normally be dispatched within 1–2 working days. Custom-tool lead time is confirmed after the TR specification, geometry, dimensions, carbide grade, coating, quantity, inspection, marking and packaging requirements are approved.
