Application & Tool Selection

Confirm the Thread Form
This page covers MIR models with A60 cutting geometry. Confirm that the required internal thread uses a compatible 60° profile.
Check Minimum Bore Diameter
Select a tool that provides sufficient clearance for the cutting head, neck and complete threading path.
Match the Thread Pitch
Standard MIR A60 tools cover pitch ranges from 0.3 mm to 2.0 mm, depending on tool size.
Use the Shortest Practical Reach
Choose the shortest L1 that reaches the full thread length to improve tool rigidity and reduce deflection.
The image shows both MIR threading and MUR profiling applications. For this product, select only the MIR 60° internal threading configuration.

FAQ & Downloads
Product FAQs
What is the MIR 60° micro internal threading bar used for?
The MIR Series is designed for precision turning of compatible 60° internal threads in small-diameter bores. It is suitable for CNC-turned sleeves, fittings, valves, instrument components and other miniature precision parts.
What does A60 mean in the MIR model number?
A60 identifies the 60° cutting profile. It is intended for compatible internal threads with a 60° included angle. It should not be used as a direct replacement for A55 tools, which have a different thread profile.
What thread pitch range is available?
The standard MIR A60 range covers thread pitches from 0.3 mm to 2.0 mm. The available pitch depends on the selected tool size. For example, MIR 1.4 A60 covers 0.3–0.4 mm, while MIR 8 A60 covers 1.0–2.0 mm.
What is the smallest bore diameter that can be threaded?
The smallest standard model, MIR 1.4 A60 L4, is suitable for a minimum bore diameter of Ø1.5 mm. Other models cover minimum bore diameters of Ø2.0, Ø2.5, Ø3.2, Ø4.1, Ø5.1, Ø6.0 and Ø8.0 mm.
Is the MIR Series a right-hand or left-hand threading tool?
MIR is the standard right-hand cutting series. For left-hand internal threading, select the corresponding MIL configuration and confirm the spindle direction, holder position and programmed tool path before machining.
Can an MIR A60 tool machine both metric and unified threads?
The 60° profile is compatible with many metric and unified thread forms, but the required pitch, tolerance, root form and clearance must be checked before selection. Please provide the thread standard or component drawing when requesting model confirmation.
Selection & Application FAQs
How do I select the correct MIR A60 model?
Confirm the thread angle, pitch, minimum bore diameter, thread length and groove or shoulder clearance. Select a model whose pitch range includes the required pitch and whose effective length L1 can reach the complete threaded section.
How should I select the effective length L1?
Select an L1 length that reaches the full thread without the larger tool body contacting the bore. Use the shortest practical effective length because excessive overhang increases deflection and vibration. Standard L1 options range from 4 mm to 30 mm.
Why are some cutting-head sizes available with different shank diameters?
Selected MIR models are available with different shank diameters to match different holders and machine configurations. For example, smaller MIR A60 cutting-head sizes may be supplied with either a Ø3 mm or Ø4 mm shank. Choose the largest compatible shank when additional rigidity is required.
How can I improve threading stability in a small bore?
Keep the tool overhang as short as possible, clamp the complete shank securely and set the cutting edge accurately on the spindle centerline. Control tool runout and use a multi-pass threading cycle matched to the thread pitch, workpiece material and machine rigidity.
How should coolant and chips be managed during small-bore threading?
Direct coolant toward the cutting zone and confirm that chips can leave the bore without becoming trapped around the tool. Chip accumulation may damage the thread surface or cutting edge, especially in blind holes and longer internal threads.
What information should be checked before programming the threading cycle?
Confirm the thread direction, spindle rotation, tool orientation, pitch, final thread depth, thread length, relief position and retraction path. Simulate the complete cutting path when the thread is close to an internal shoulder or the bore provides limited clearance.
Ordering & OEM FAQs
Can you manufacture custom MIR 60° threading bars?
Yes. Minimum bore diameter, cutting-head size, pitch range, working length, shank diameter, cutting geometry, carbide grade and coating can be customized according to drawings or reference samples.
What information is required for an MIR quotation?
Please provide the standard model or thread drawing, thread standard, 60° profile confirmation, pitch, tolerance, minimum bore diameter, thread length, workpiece material, quantity and any coating, marking or packaging requirements.
Can distributors order mixed MIR models for testing?
Yes. Small trial orders and mixed standard models can be reviewed according to current stock and production availability. The standard minimum order quantity is 10 pieces.
Do you support OEM marking and private-label packaging?
Yes. Custom laser marking, model identification, labels, individual tubes and private-label packaging are available for distributors and tooling resellers.
What is the lead time for standard and customized MIR tools?
In-stock standard models can usually be dispatched within 1–3 working days after order confirmation. Customized tools require separate lead-time confirmation according to geometry, coating, quantity and packaging requirements.
