Long-Series Solid Carbide Twist Drill Overview
This long-series solid carbide twist drill is designed for deep-hole machining, recessed features and drilling positions that cannot be reached with standard-length tools. Extended flute and overall-length configurations provide additional reach, while the two-flute spiral geometry supports chip evacuation along the deeper drilling path. Manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide, the drill provides rigidity, dimensional stability and wear resistance for CNC machining. Cutting diameter, flute length, shank diameter, overall length, point geometry, coating and coolant configuration can be customized according to the required hole depth, workpiece material and machine conditions.

Key Configuration
Extended Reach
Long flute and overall-length configurations provide access to deep holes, recessed surfaces and difficult-to-reach drilling positions.
Two-Flute Chip Path
Precision-ground spiral flutes help guide chips away from the cutting zone during extended-depth drilling.
Custom Point & Coolant Design
Point geometry, edge preparation, coating and coolant configuration can be matched to the actual hole depth, material and machine conditions.
Key Product Advantages
Deep & Recessed Reach
Extended flute and overall lengths allow drilling in deep cavities and recessed features where standard-length tools cannot reach.
Fine-Grain Carbide Rigidity
The solid carbide body supports stable cutting and reduced deflection when long tools are used with rigid holding and low runout.
Application-Matched Chip Removal
Air blast, external coolant, pecking or through-coolant design can be selected according to the material and effective drilling depth.
Drawing-Based Long-Series Configuration
Diameter, flute length, effective drilling depth, shank size and overall length can be produced according to a drawing or machining requirement.

Tool Nomenclature & Dimensions
This long-series solid carbide twist drill is configured according to required drilling depth and machining reach rather than a fixed 3D/5D/8D size series. Cutting diameter, flute length, effective drilling depth, shank diameter and overall length should be confirmed together to control tool rigidity, holder engagement and chip evacuation.
Typical Custom Size References

Deep-Hole Machining Guidance
- Pilot-Hole Requirement: Whether a pilot hole is required depends on drilling-depth ratio, point geometry, entry surface and guidance design.
- Controlled Tool Entry: Use low runout, short unsupported overhang and controlled entry to reduce bending and edge damage.
- Reliable Chip Removal: Air blast, external coolant, pecking or through-coolant design should be selected according to the material and hole depth.
- Coolant Activation: Ensure coolant or air reaches the cutting zone before using full drilling parameters, especially with longer flute configurations.
- Pecking Strategy: Peck drilling may be required when chips cannot be evacuated continuously, but excessive pecking can also increase repeated edge loading.
- Controlled Withdrawal: Avoid abrupt lateral movement while the long drill remains inside the hole and reduce speed during withdrawal if required.
Recommended Starting Cutting Parameters
Because this product is configured by cutting diameter, effective drilling depth, point geometry, coating, coolant method and workpiece material, one fixed cutting-data table does not apply to every long-series tool. Start from the confirmed solid-carbide drill data for the exact material and then reduce parameters where additional tool length, runout sensitivity or chip evacuation requires a more conservative setup.

Product FAQs
Product-specific information about long-series carbide drilling, deep-hole chip evacuation, tool rigidity, coolant strategy and machining setup.
What is a long-series solid carbide twist drill used for?
A long-series solid carbide twist drill is intended for applications that require greater drilling reach or deeper hole machining than a standard-length drill can provide. It is suitable for deep or recessed holes when tool overhang, machine rigidity, chip evacuation and coolant conditions are properly controlled.
How should the drill length be selected for deep-hole machining?
Select the shortest tool that still provides sufficient flute length and reach for the required hole depth. Excessive tool overhang reduces rigidity and can increase vibration, runout sensitivity and hole-position error. Hole depth, clearance, flute length and holder engagement should therefore be reviewed together.
What is important for chip evacuation in deep holes?
Stable chip evacuation is critical as drilling depth increases. Flute geometry, feed, coolant or air delivery and the workpiece material all influence chip flow. When chips cannot leave the hole consistently, cutting heat, torque and edge load can increase, so machining conditions should be adjusted before continuing to greater depth.
Is through-coolant required for this long-series drill?
Not necessarily for every configuration. External coolant, air, MQL or internal coolant may be considered depending on hole depth, diameter, workpiece material and machine capability. For deeper holes, reliable coolant delivery and chip removal become increasingly important, so the final coolant strategy should be confirmed for the application.
Can the diameter, flute length and overall length be customized?
Yes. Cutting diameter, flute length, overall length, shank diameter, point geometry, edge preparation and coating can be reviewed according to the required hole depth and machine setup. Non-standard long-reach configurations can also be evaluated from a drawing or existing tool sample.
What information is required for a quotation?
Please provide the cutting diameter, hole depth, blind-hole or through-hole requirement, workpiece material and hardness, flute length, overall length, shank diameter, coolant condition, machine type, holder information and required quantity. A drawing is recommended for special long-series dimensions.
Ordering & OEM FAQs
General information for trial orders, mixed sizes, OEM marking and repeat distributor supply.
Do you accept small trial orders?
Yes. Small trial quantities can be reviewed for hole-depth testing, chip-evacuation verification, dimensional inspection and tool-life evaluation before larger repeat orders.
Can mixed diameters and lengths be ordered together?
Yes. Different cutting diameters, flute lengths and overall lengths can normally be combined in one order when the carbide grade, geometry, coating and production requirements are compatible.
Is OEM laser marking available?
Yes. Logo, item code, tool size and batch identification can be reviewed for laser marking where the available shank area permits. Custom labels and private-brand packaging are also available for OEM programs.
What is the typical production lead time?
Lead time depends on cutting diameter, flute length, overall length, coating, custom geometry and order quantity. Final production scheduling is confirmed after the long-series drill specification and application requirements are approved.
